A classic Log Cabin gets a modern makeover

The clients on this project bought this house for the view overlooking Whitefish lake. The problem was the design of the main facade of the house that faced the lake was not designed in a way to optimize and enjoy the view to it's fullest potential. We decided to remove this main wall, extend the great room and deck towards the lake by 8' (right up to the property setback). The result is a steel and glass wall that can completely open up to the lake and exterior but still have a roof that blocks the rain but allows direct sunlight over the top into the house. The end result is turning out to be a truly dramatic experience.
